Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What are they asking (one another)? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3

78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Nay, they will come to know! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
Nay, again, they will come to know! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Have We not made the earth as a bed, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
And the mountains as pegs? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And have made the day for livelihood. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And gardens of thick growth. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
They will abide therein for ages, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
And all things We have recorded in a Book. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise); - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Gardens and grapeyards; - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age; - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And a full cup (of wine). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying; - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That is without doubt the True Day, so, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!" - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
