Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
What is it that they are questioning each other about?! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
[Is it] about the Great Tiding, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
the one about which they differ? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
No indeed! Soon they will know! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
No indeed! Soon they will know for once again! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Did We not make the earth a resting place? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
and the mountains stakes? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
and create you in pairs? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
and make your sleep for rest? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
and make the night a covering? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
and make the day for livelihood? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
and build above you the seven mighty heavens? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
and make [the sun for] a radiant lamp? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
and send down water pouring from the rain-clouds, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
that We may bring forth with it grains and plants, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
and luxuriant gardens? - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Indeed the Day of Judgement is the tryst, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
the day the Trumpet will be blown, and you will come in groups, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
and the sky will be opened and become gates, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
and the mountains will be set moving and become a mirage. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Indeed hell is in ambush, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
a resort for the rebels, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
to reside therein for ages, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
tasting in it neither any coolness nor drink, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
except boiling water and pus, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
a fitting requital. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
Indeed they did not expect any reckoning, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
and they denied Our signs mendaciously, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
and We have figured everything in a Book. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
So [now] taste! We shall increase you in nothing but punishment! - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
Indeed a triumph awaits the Godwary: - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
gardens and vineyards, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
and buxom maidens of a like age, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
and brimming cups. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
Therein they shall hear neither vain talk nor lies - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
—a reward and a sufficing bounty from your Lord, - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
the All-beneficent, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. They will not be able to address Him - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
on the day when the Spirit and the angels stand in an array: none shall speak except someone who is permitted by the All-beneficent and says what is rightful. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That day is true for certain. So let anyone who wishes take resort with his Lord. - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
Indeed We have warned you of a punishment near at hand—the day when a person will observe what his hands have sent ahead and the faithless one will say, ‘I wish I were dust!’ - Ali Quli Qarai (English)
