بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
78:1
عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
78:1
OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:2
عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
78:2
(Is it) of the great announcement - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:3
ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ
78:3
About which they have been differing? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:4
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:4
Indeed they will come to know soon; - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ
78:5
They will indeed come to know soon. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:6
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًا
78:6
Did We not make the earth a spreading, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:7
وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
78:7
The mountains tent-pins? - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:8
وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا
78:8
We created you in pairs, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:9
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا
78:9
And made sleep for you to rest, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:10
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا
78:10
The night a covering, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:11
وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا
78:11
And the day for seeking livelihood. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:12
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا
78:12
We raised over you several secure (skies), - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:13
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
78:13
And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:14
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا
78:14
And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا
78:15
That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:16
وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا
78:16
And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:17
إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
78:17
Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:18
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا
78:18
The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:19
وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًا
78:19
The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:20
وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا
78:20
The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:21
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا
78:21
Certainly Hell lies in wait, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:22
لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًا
78:22
The rebels' abode, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:23
لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًا
78:23
Where they will remain for aeons, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:24
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا
78:24
Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:25
إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا
78:25
Except boiling water and benumbing cold: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:26
جَزَآءً وِفَاقًا
78:26
, A fitting reward. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:27
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا
78:27
They were those who did not expect a reckoning, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:28
وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا
78:28
And rejected Our signs as lies. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:29
وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًا
78:29
We have kept account of everything in a book. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:30
فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا
78:30
So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:31
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا
78:31
As for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, there is attainment for them: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:32
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًا
78:32
Orchards and vineyards, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:33
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
78:33
And graceful maidens of the same age, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:34
وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا
78:34
And flasks full and flowing. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:35
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًا
78:35
They will hear no blasphemies there or disavowals: - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:36
جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا
78:36
A recompense from your Lord, a sufficient gift, - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:37
رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا
78:37
The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, most benevolent, to whom none may dare address a word. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:38
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا
78:38
The day the Spirit takes its stand, with the angels ranged in rows. None will speak except who is permitted by Ar-Rahman and says what is right. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:39
ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا
78:39
That day is certain. So whosoever likes may prepare a way to his Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
78:40
إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا
78:40
We have indeed warned you of a calamity near at hand, a day when man will see what he had sent (of his deeds) ahead, and the unbeliever will say: "Woe alas. Ah would that I were dust!" - Ahmed Ali (English)
