Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2
He created man from a clot. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3
Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4
Who taught (to write) with the pen - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5
Taught man what he knew not. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6
Nay! man is most surely inordinate, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7
Because he sees himself free from want. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8
Surely to your Lord is the return. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9
Have you seen him who forbids - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10
A servant when he prays? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11
Have you considered if he were on the right way, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12
Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13
Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14
Does he not know that Allah does see? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15
Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16
A lying, sinful forehead. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17
Then let him summon his council, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18
We too would summon the braves of the army. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
96:19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19
Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
