بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2
Created man from an embryo; - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3
Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4
Who taught by the pen, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5
Taught man what he did not know. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6
And yet, but yet man is rebellious, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7
For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8
Surely your returning is to your Lord. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9
Have you seen him who restrains - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10
A votary when he turns to his devotions? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11
Have you thought, if he had been on guidance - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12
Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13
Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14
Does he not know that God sees? - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15
And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16
By the lying, the sinful forelock. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17
So let him call his associates, - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18
We shall call the guards of Hell. - Ahmed Ali (English)
96:19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19
Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). - Ahmed Ali (English)
