Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2
Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5
Has taught man that which he knew not. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6
Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7

96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8
Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9
Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10
A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11
Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12
Or enjoins piety? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13
Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14
Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15
Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16
A lying, sinful forelock! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17
Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18
We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
96:19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19
Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! - Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali and Muhammad Muhsin Khan (English)
