Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, - A. J. Arberry (English)

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2
created Man of a blood-clot. - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3
Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4
who taught by the Pen, - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5
taught Man that he knew not. - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6
No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7
for he thinks himself self-sufficient. - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8
Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. - A. J. Arberry (English)

أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9
What thinkest thou? He who forbids - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10
a servant when he prays -- - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11
What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12
or bade to godfearing -- - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13
What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14
Did he not know that God sees? - A. J. Arberry (English)
96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15
No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, - A. J. Arberry (English)

نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16
a lying, sinful forelock. - A. J. Arberry (English)

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17

سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19
No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. - A. J. Arberry (English)
