Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
96:1
ٱقْرَأْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ
96:1
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:2
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
96:2
created man from a clot of congealed blood. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:3
ٱقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْأَكْرَمُ
96:3
Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:4
ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَ بِٱلْقَلَمِ
96:4
Who taught by the pen, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:5
عَلَّمَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
96:5
taught man what he did not know. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:6
كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَيَطْغَىٰٓ
96:6
Nay, surely man transgresses; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:7
أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰٓ
96:7
for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:8
إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجْعَىٰٓ
96:8
Surely to your Lord is your return. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:9
أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يَنْهَىٰ
96:9
Did you see him who forbids - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:10
عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ
96:10
a servant (of Allah) when he prays? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:11
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ
96:11
Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:12
أَوْ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقْوَىٰٓ
96:12
and enjoins piety? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:13
أَرَءَيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
96:13
Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:14
أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ
96:14
Does he not know that Allah sees everything? - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:15
كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ
96:15
No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:16
نَاصِيَةٍ كَـٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ
96:16
by the lying forelock steeped in sin. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:17
فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ
96:17
So let him summon his helpmates; - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:18
سَنَدْعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ
96:18
We too shall summon the guards of Hell. - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
96:19
كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَٱسْجُدْ وَٱقْتَرِب ۩
96:19
No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). - Abul Ala Maududi (English)
