Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
80:1
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
80:1
He frowned and turned (his) back, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:2
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
80:2
Because there came to him the blind man. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:3
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
80:3
And what would make you know that he would purify himself, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:4
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
80:4
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:5
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
80:5
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:6
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
80:6
To him do you address yourself. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:7
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
80:7
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:8
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ
80:8
And as to him who comes to you striving hard, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:9
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ
80:9
And he fears, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:10
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
80:10
From him will you divert yourself. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:11
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
80:11
Nay! surely it is an admonishment. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:12
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
80:12
So let him who pleases mind it. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:13
فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
80:13
In honored books, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:14
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ
80:14
Exalted, purified, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:15
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ
80:15
In the hands of scribes - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:16
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ
80:16
Noble, virtuous. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:17
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ
80:17
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:18
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
80:18
Of what thing did He create him? - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:19
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
80:19
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:20
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
80:20
Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:21
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ
80:21
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:22
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
80:22
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:23
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
80:23
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:24
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
80:24
Then let man look to his food, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:25
أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا
80:25
That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:26
ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا
80:26
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:27
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا
80:27
Then We cause to grow therein the grain, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:28
وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا
80:28
And grapes and clover, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:29
وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا
80:29
And the olive and the palm, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:30
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا
80:30
And thick gardens, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:31
وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا
80:31
And fruits and herbage - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:32
مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
80:32
A provision for you and for your cattle. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:33
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
80:33
But when the deafening cry comes, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:34
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
80:34
The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:35
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
80:35
And his mother and his father, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:36
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
80:36
And his spouse and his son-- - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:37
لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ
80:37
Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:38
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ
80:38
(Many) faces on that day shall be bright, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:39
ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
80:39
Laughing, joyous. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:40
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ
80:40
And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:41
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
80:41
Darkness shall cover them. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
80:42
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
80:42
These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. - Mohammad Habib Shakir (English)
