Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
80:1
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
80:1
The Prophet frowned and turned away - Saheeh International (English)
80:2
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
80:2
Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. - Saheeh International (English)
80:3
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
80:3
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified - Saheeh International (English)
80:4
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
80:4
Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? - Saheeh International (English)
80:5
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
80:5
As for he who thinks himself without need, - Saheeh International (English)
80:6
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
80:6
To him you give attention. - Saheeh International (English)
80:7
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
80:7
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. - Saheeh International (English)
80:8
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ
80:8
But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] - Saheeh International (English)
80:9
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ
80:9
While he fears [Allah], - Saheeh International (English)
80:10
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
80:10
From him you are distracted. - Saheeh International (English)
80:11
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
80:11
No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; - Saheeh International (English)
80:12
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
80:12
So whoever wills may remember it. - Saheeh International (English)
80:13
فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
80:13
[It is recorded] in honored sheets, - Saheeh International (English)
80:14
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ
80:14
Exalted and purified, - Saheeh International (English)
80:15
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ
80:15
[Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, - Saheeh International (English)
80:16
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ
80:16
Noble and dutiful. - Saheeh International (English)
80:17
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ
80:17
Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. - Saheeh International (English)
80:18
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
80:18
From what substance did He create him? - Saheeh International (English)
80:19
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
80:19
From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; - Saheeh International (English)
80:20
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
80:20
Then He eased the way for him; - Saheeh International (English)
80:21
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ
80:21
Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. - Saheeh International (English)
80:22
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
80:22
Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. - Saheeh International (English)
80:23
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
80:23
No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. - Saheeh International (English)
80:24
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
80:24
Then let mankind look at his food - - Saheeh International (English)
80:25
أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا
80:25
How We poured down water in torrents, - Saheeh International (English)
80:26
ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا
80:26
Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], - Saheeh International (English)
80:27
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا
80:27
And caused to grow within it grain - Saheeh International (English)
80:28
وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا
80:28
And grapes and herbage - Saheeh International (English)
80:29
وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا
80:29
And olive and palm trees - Saheeh International (English)
80:30
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا
80:30
And gardens of dense shrubbery - Saheeh International (English)
80:31
وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا
80:31
And fruit and grass - - Saheeh International (English)
80:32
مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
80:32
[As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. - Saheeh International (English)
80:33
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
80:33
But when there comes the Deafening Blast - Saheeh International (English)
80:34
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
80:34
On the Day a man will flee from his brother - Saheeh International (English)
80:35
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
80:35
And his mother and his father - Saheeh International (English)
80:36
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
80:36
And his wife and his children, - Saheeh International (English)
80:37
لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ
80:37
For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. - Saheeh International (English)
80:38
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ
80:38
[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - - Saheeh International (English)
80:39
ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
80:39
Laughing, rejoicing at good news. - Saheeh International (English)
80:40
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ
80:40
And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. - Saheeh International (English)
80:41
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
80:41
Blackness will cover them. - Saheeh International (English)
80:42
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
80:42
Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. - Saheeh International (English)
