بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

80:1 عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
80:1 He frowned and turned away. - Talal Itani (English)

80:2 أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
80:2 When the blind man approached him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:3 وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
80:3 But how do you know? Perhaps he was seeking to purify himself. - Talal Itani (English)

80:4 أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
80:4 Or be reminded, and the message would benefit him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:5 أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
80:5 But as for him who was indifferent. - Talal Itani (English)

80:6 فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
80:6 You gave him your attention. - Talal Itani (English)

80:7 وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
80:7 Though you are not liable if he does not purify himself. - Talal Itani (English)

80:8 وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ
80:8 But as for him who came to you seeking. - Talal Itani (English)

80:9 وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ
80:9 In awe. - Talal Itani (English)

80:10 فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
80:10 To him you were inattentive. - Talal Itani (English)

80:11 كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
80:11 Do not. This is a Lesson. - Talal Itani (English)

80:12 فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
80:12 Whoever wills, shall remember it. - Talal Itani (English)

80:13 فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
80:13 On honorable pages. - Talal Itani (English)

80:14 مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ
80:14 Exalted and purified. - Talal Itani (English)

80:15 بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ
80:15 By the hands of scribes. - Talal Itani (English)

80:16 كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ
80:16 Noble and devoted. - Talal Itani (English)

80:17 قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ
80:17 Perish man! How thankless he is! - Talal Itani (English)

80:18 مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
80:18 From what did He create him? - Talal Itani (English)

80:19 مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
80:19 From a sperm drop He created him, and enabled him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:20 ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
80:20 Then He eased the way for him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:21 ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ
80:21 Then He puts him to death, and buries him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:22 ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
80:22 Then, when He wills, He will resurrect him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:23 كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
80:23 But no, he did not fulfill what He has commanded him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:24 فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
80:24 Let man consider his food. - Talal Itani (English)

80:25 أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا
80:25 We pour down water in abundance. - Talal Itani (English)

80:26 ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا
80:26 Then crack the soil open. - Talal Itani (English)

80:27 فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا
80:27 And grow in it grains. - Talal Itani (English)

80:28 وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا
80:28 And grapes and herbs. - Talal Itani (English)

80:29 وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا
80:29 And olives and dates. - Talal Itani (English)

80:30 وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا
80:30 And luscious gardens. - Talal Itani (English)

80:31 وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا
80:31 And fruits and vegetables. - Talal Itani (English)

80:32 مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
80:32 Enjoyment for you, and for your livestock. - Talal Itani (English)

80:33 فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
80:33 But when the Deafening Noise comes to pass. - Talal Itani (English)

80:34 يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
80:34 The Day when a person will flee from his brother. - Talal Itani (English)

80:35 وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
80:35 And his mother and his father. - Talal Itani (English)

80:36 وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
80:36 And his consort and his children. - Talal Itani (English)

80:37 لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ
80:37 Every one of them, on that Day, will have enough to preoccupy him. - Talal Itani (English)

80:38 وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ
80:38 Faces on that Day will be radiant. - Talal Itani (English)

80:39 ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
80:39 Laughing and rejoicing. - Talal Itani (English)

80:40 وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ
80:40 And Faces on that Day will be covered with misery. - Talal Itani (English)

80:41 تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
80:41 Overwhelmed by remorse. - Talal Itani (English)

80:42 أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
80:42 These are the faithless, the vicious. - Talal Itani (English)
