Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
80:1
عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ
80:1
He frowned and turned away. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:2
أَن جَآءَهُ ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ
80:2
Because there came Unto him a blind man. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:3
وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُۥ يَزَّكَّىٰٓ
80:3
How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:4
أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰٓ
80:4
Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:5
أَمَّا مَنِ ٱسْتَغْنَىٰ
80:5
As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient- - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:6
فَأَنتَ لَهُۥ تَصَدَّىٰ
80:6
Unto him thou attendest. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:7
وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّىٰ
80:7
Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:8
وَأَمَّا مَن جَآءَكَ يَسْعَىٰ
80:8
And as for him who cometh Unto thee running, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:9
وَهُوَ يَخْشَىٰ
80:9
And he feareth'- - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:10
فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّىٰ
80:10
Him thou neglectest! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:11
كَلَّآ إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
80:11
By no means! Verily it is an admonition. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:12
فَمَن شَآءَ ذَكَرَهُۥ
80:12
So whosoever willeth-let him be admonished therewlth. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:13
فِى صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ
80:13
Inscribed in Writs honoured," - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:14
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭ
80:14
Exalted, Purified, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:15
بِأَيْدِى سَفَرَةٍ
80:15
By the hands of scribes. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:16
كِرَامٍۭ بَرَرَةٍ
80:16
Honourable and virtuous. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:17
قُتِلَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَآ أَكْفَرَهُۥ
80:17
Perish man! how ungrateful he is! - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:18
مِنْ أَىِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ
80:18
Of what thing hath He created him? - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:19
مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُۥ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ
80:19
Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:20
ثُمَّ ٱلسَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُۥ
80:20
Then the way He made easy. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:21
ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُۥ فَأَقْبَرَهُۥ
80:21
Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:22
ثُمَّ إِذَا شَآءَ أَنشَرَهُۥ
80:22
Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:23
كَلَّا لَمَّا يَقْضِ مَآ أَمَرَهُۥ
80:23
By no means He performed not that which He had commanded him. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:24
فَلْيَنظُرِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِلَىٰ طَعَامِهِۦٓ
80:24
Let man look at his food: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:25
أَنَّا صَبَبْنَا ٱلْمَآءَ صَبًّا
80:25
It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:26
ثُمَّ شَقَقْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ شَقًّا
80:26
Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:27
فَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا حَبًّا
80:27
Then We cause therein the grain to grow, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:28
وَعِنَبًا وَقَضْبًا
80:28
And grapes and vegetables - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:29
وَزَيْتُونًا وَنَخْلًا
80:29
And olives and palms - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:30
وَحَدَآئِقَ غُلْبًا
80:30
And enclosed gardens luxuriant. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:31
وَفَـٰكِهَةً وَأَبًّا
80:31
And fruits and herbage: - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:32
مَّتَـٰعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ
80:32
A provision for you and for your cattle. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:33
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلصَّآخَّةُ
80:33
Then when cometh the Deafening Cry- - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:34
يَوْمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلْمَرْءُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ
80:34
On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:35
وَأُمِّهِۦ وَأَبِيهِ
80:35
And his mother and his father, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:36
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ
80:36
And his wife and his sons; - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:37
لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ
80:37
For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:38
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ
80:38
Faces on that Day shall be beaming, - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:39
ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ
80:39
Laughing, rejoicing. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:40
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ
80:40
And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:41
تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ
80:41
Dust shall cover them - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
80:42
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ
80:42
Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. - Abdul Majid Daryabadi (English)
