بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
56:1
When the inevitable occurs. - Talal Itani (English)
56:2
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
56:2
Of its occurrence, there is no denial. - Talal Itani (English)
56:3
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ
56:3
Bringing low, raising high. - Talal Itani (English)
56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا
56:4
When the earth is shaken with a shock. - Talal Itani (English)
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا
56:5
And the mountains are crushed and crumbled. - Talal Itani (English)
56:6
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا
56:6
And they become scattered dust. - Talal Itani (English)
56:7
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً
56:7
And you become three classes. - Talal Itani (English)
56:8
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
56:8
Those on the Right—what of those on the Right? - Talal Itani (English)
56:9
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
56:9
And those on the Left—what of those on the Left? - Talal Itani (English)
56:10
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
56:10
And the forerunners, the forerunners. - Talal Itani (English)
56:11
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
56:11
Those are the nearest. - Talal Itani (English)
56:12
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
56:12
In the Gardens of Bliss. - Talal Itani (English)
56:13
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:13
A throng from the ancients. - Talal Itani (English)
56:14
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:14
And a small band from the latecomers. - Talal Itani (English)
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ
56:15
On luxurious furnishings. - Talal Itani (English)
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
56:16
Reclining on them, facing one another. - Talal Itani (English)
56:17
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
56:17
Serving them will be immortalized youth. - Talal Itani (English)
56:18
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
56:18
With cups, pitchers, and sparkling drinks. - Talal Itani (English)
56:19
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
56:19
Causing them neither headache, nor intoxication. - Talal Itani (English)
56:20
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
56:20
And fruits of their choice. - Talal Itani (English)
56:21
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
56:21
And meat of birds that they may desire. - Talal Itani (English)
56:22
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ
56:22
And lovely companions. - Talal Itani (English)
56:23
كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
56:23
The likenesses of treasured pearls. - Talal Itani (English)
56:24
جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
56:24
As a reward for what they used to do. - Talal Itani (English)
56:25
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
56:25
Therein they will hear no nonsense, and no accusations. - Talal Itani (English)
56:26
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا
56:26
But only the greeting: “Peace, peace.” - Talal Itani (English)
56:27
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:27
And those on the Right—what of those on the Right? - Talal Itani (English)
56:28
فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ
56:28
In lush orchards. - Talal Itani (English)
56:29
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ
56:29
And sweet-smelling plants. - Talal Itani (English)
56:30
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ
56:30
And extended shade. - Talal Itani (English)
56:31
وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ
56:31
And outpouring water. - Talal Itani (English)
56:32
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ
56:32
And abundant fruit. - Talal Itani (English)
56:33
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ
56:33
Neither withheld, nor forbidden. - Talal Itani (English)
56:34
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
56:34
And uplifted mattresses. - Talal Itani (English)
56:35
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً
56:35
We have created them of special creation. - Talal Itani (English)
56:36
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
56:36
And made them virgins. - Talal Itani (English)
56:37
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا
56:37
Tender and un-aging. - Talal Itani (English)
56:38
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:38
For those on the Right. - Talal Itani (English)
56:39
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:39
A throng from the ancients. - Talal Itani (English)
56:40
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:40
And a throng from the latecomers. - Talal Itani (English)
56:41
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
56:41
And those on the Left—what of those on the Left? - Talal Itani (English)
56:42
فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ
56:42
Amid searing wind and boiling water. - Talal Itani (English)
56:43
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ
56:43
And a shadow of thick smoke. - Talal Itani (English)
56:44
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
56:44
Neither cool, nor refreshing. - Talal Itani (English)
56:45
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
56:45
They had lived before that in luxury. - Talal Itani (English)
56:46
وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:46
And they used to persist in immense wrongdoing. - Talal Itani (English)
56:47
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
56:47
And they used to say, “When we are dead and turned into dust and bones, are we to be resurrected? - Talal Itani (English)
56:48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
56:48
And our ancient ancestors too?” - Talal Itani (English)
56:49
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:49
Say, “The first and the last. - Talal Itani (English)
56:50
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
56:50
Will be gathered for the appointment of a familiar Day.” - Talal Itani (English)
56:51
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
56:51
Then you, you misguided, who deny the truth. - Talal Itani (English)
56:52
لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ
56:52
Will be eating from the Tree of Bitterness. - Talal Itani (English)
56:53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
56:53
Will be filling your bellies with it. - Talal Itani (English)
56:54
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
56:54
Will be drinking on top of it boiling water. - Talal Itani (English)
56:55
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
56:55
Drinking like thirsty camels drink. - Talal Itani (English)
56:56
هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
56:56
That is their hospitality on the Day of Retribution. - Talal Itani (English)
56:57
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
56:57
We created you—if only you would believe! - Talal Itani (English)
56:58
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
56:58
Have you seen what you ejaculate? - Talal Itani (English)
56:59
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
56:59
Is it you who create it, or are We the Creator? - Talal Itani (English)
56:60
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
56:60
We have decreed death among you, and We will not be outstripped. - Talal Itani (English)
56:61
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
56:61
In replacing you with your likes, and transforming you into what you do not know. - Talal Itani (English)
56:62
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
56:62
You have known the first formation; if only you would remember. - Talal Itani (English)
56:63
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
56:63
Have you seen what you cultivate? - Talal Itani (English)
56:64
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
56:64
Is it you who make it grow, or are We the Grower? - Talal Itani (English)
56:65
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
56:65
If We will, We can turn it into rubble; then you will lament. - Talal Itani (English)
56:66
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
56:66
“We are penalized. - Talal Itani (English)
56:67
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
56:67
No, we are being deprived.” - Talal Itani (English)
56:68
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
56:68
Have you seen the water you drink? - Talal Itani (English)
56:69
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
56:69
Is it you who sent it down from the clouds, or are We the Sender? - Talal Itani (English)
56:70
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
56:70
If We will, We can make it salty. Will you not be thankful? - Talal Itani (English)
56:71
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
56:71
Have you seen the fire you kindle? - Talal Itani (English)
56:72
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
56:72
Is it you who produce its tree, or are We the Producer? - Talal Itani (English)
56:73
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
56:73
We have made it a reminder, and a comfort for the users. - Talal Itani (English)
56:74
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:74
So glorify the Name of your Great Lord. - Talal Itani (English)
56:75
۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
56:75
I swear by the locations of the stars. - Talal Itani (English)
56:76
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
56:76
It is an oath, if you only knew, that is tremendous. - Talal Itani (English)
56:77
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ
56:77
It is a noble Quran. - Talal Itani (English)
56:78
فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
56:78
In a well-protected Book. - Talal Itani (English)
56:79
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
56:79
None can grasp it except the purified. - Talal Itani (English)
56:80
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
56:80
A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds. - Talal Itani (English)
56:81
أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
56:81
Is it this discourse that you take so lightly? - Talal Itani (English)
56:82
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
56:82
And you make it your livelihood to deny it? - Talal Itani (English)
56:83
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
56:83
So when it has reached the throat. - Talal Itani (English)
56:84
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ
56:84
As you are looking on. - Talal Itani (English)
56:85
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
56:85
We are nearer to it than you are, but you do not see. - Talal Itani (English)
56:86
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
56:86
If you are not held to account. - Talal Itani (English)
56:87
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
56:87
Then bring it back, if you are truthful. - Talal Itani (English)
56:88
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
56:88
But if he is one of those brought near. - Talal Itani (English)
56:89
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ
56:89
Then happiness, and flowers, and Garden of Delights. - Talal Itani (English)
56:90
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:90
And if he is one of those on the Right. - Talal Itani (English)
56:91
فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:91
Then, “Peace upon you,” from those on the Right. - Talal Itani (English)
56:92
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
56:92
But if he is one of the deniers, the mistaken. - Talal Itani (English)
56:93
فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
56:93
Then a welcome of Inferno. - Talal Itani (English)
56:94
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
56:94
And burning in Hell. - Talal Itani (English)
56:95
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
56:95
This is the certain truth. - Talal Itani (English)
56:96
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:96
So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Magnificent - Talal Itani (English)
