Transliteration
Wahiduddin Khan
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
56:1
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ
56:1
When the inevitable event comes, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:2
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ
56:2
no soul will deny its coming. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:3
خَافِضَةٌ رَّافِعَةٌ
56:3
It will abase some and exalt others. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:4
إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّا
56:4
When the earth is violently shaken - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:5
وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّا
56:5
and the mountains crumbled, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:6
فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءً مُّنۢبَثًّا
56:6
they will become like dust scattered around. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:7
وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًا ثَلَـٰثَةً
56:7
On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:8
فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
56:8
The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:9
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
56:9
The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:10
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ
56:10
The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:11
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ
56:11
(The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:12
فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
56:12
in the beautiful Paradise. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:13
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:13
Many of them will be from the ancient people - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:14
وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:14
and only a few of them from the later generations. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:15
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّوْضُونَةٍ
56:15
They will recline on jewelled couches - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:16
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ
56:16
facing one another. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:17
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ
56:17
Immortal youths will serve them - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:18
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ
56:18
with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:19
لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ
56:19
which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:20
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ
56:20
Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:21
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
56:21
and the flesh of birds, as they desire. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:22
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ
56:22
They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:23
كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ
56:23
like pearls preserved in their shells, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:24
جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
56:24
as reward for their deeds. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:25
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا
56:25
They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:26
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَـٰمًا سَلَـٰمًا
56:26
except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:27
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:27
As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:28
فِى سِدْرٍ مَّخْضُودٍ
56:28
They will live amid the thornless lot trees - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:29
وَطَلْحٍ مَّنضُودٍ
56:29
and banana trees, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:30
وَظِلٍّ مَّمْدُودٍ
56:30
with fruits piled up one on the other, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:31
وَمَآءٍ مَّسْكُوبٍ
56:31
and amid the extended shade - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:32
وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ
56:32
near to flowing water - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:33
لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ
56:33
and abundant fruits, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:34
وَفُرُشٍ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ
56:34
undiminished and never denied - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:35
إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءً
56:35
and the noble maidens - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:36
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا
56:36
that We have created (for the people of the right hand). - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:37
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا
56:37
We have made them virgins, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:38
لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:38
loving and of equal age. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:39
ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
56:39
These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:40
وَثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:40
and many from the later generations. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:41
وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ
56:41
As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:42
فِى سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ
56:42
They will live amid the scorching, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:43
وَظِلٍّ مِّن يَحْمُومٍ
56:43
scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:44
لَّا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ
56:44
neither cold nor graceful in shape. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:45
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ
56:45
They had lived in luxury before this - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:46
وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:46
and persisted in heinous sins. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:47
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
56:47
It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:48
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ
56:48
Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:49
قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ
56:49
(Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:50
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ
56:50
will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:51
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
56:51
Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:52
لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍ مِّن زَقُّومٍ
56:52
will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:53
فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
56:53
filling your bellies, with it - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:54
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ
56:54
and on top of this you will drink boiling water - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:55
فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ
56:55
like a thirsty camel". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:56
هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
56:56
Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:57
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ
56:57
It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:58
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ
56:58
Have you seen sperm? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:59
ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ
56:59
Did you create it or was it We who created it? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:60
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ
56:60
We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:61
عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
56:61
in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
56:62
You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:63
أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ
56:63
Have you seen what you sow? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:64
ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ
56:64
Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:65
لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ
56:65
Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:66
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ
56:66
crying, "We have been left to suffer loss. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:67
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
56:67
Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:68
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ
56:68
Have you seen the water which you drink? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:69
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
56:69
Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:70
لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ
56:70
Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:71
أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ
56:71
Have you seen the fire which you kindle? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:72
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ
56:72
Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:73
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَـٰعًا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ
56:73
It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:74
فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:74
(Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:75
۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ
56:75
I do not need to swear by the setting of the stars - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:76
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ
56:76
- which is indeed a great oath if only you knew it - - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:77
إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌ كَرِيمٌ
56:77
that this is an honorable Quran - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:78
فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مَّكْنُونٍ
56:78
preserved in a hidden Book which - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:79
لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ
56:79
no one can touch it except the purified ones. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:80
تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
56:80
(This Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:81
أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ
56:81
Would you say that this statement is a lie? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:82
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
56:82
Would you reject the sustenance that you receive rather than give thanks? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:83
فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ
56:83
Why can you not help a soul dying - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:84
وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنظُرُونَ
56:84
right before your very eyes? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:85
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ
56:85
We are closer to him than you, but you cannot see. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:86
فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ
56:86
If you are true to your claim that there is no Day of Judgment, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:87
تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ
56:87
why can you not bring it (the soul) back (to life)? - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:88
فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ
56:88
(If a dying soul) is of those near to God, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:89
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ
56:89
it will have rest, happiness, and a beautiful Paradise. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:90
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:90
If it is of the people of the right hand, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:91
فَسَلَـٰمٌ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ
56:91
it will be with the people of the right hand, living in peace and security. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:92
وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
56:92
If it is of those who have rejected the Truth and have gone astray, - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

فَنُزُلٌ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ
56:93
its dwelling will be boiling water - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:94
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ
56:94
and the heat of hell fire. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
56:95
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ
56:95
This is the absolute Truth and certainty. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
56:96
So glorify the name of your Lord, the Great One. - Muhammad Sarwar (English)
