بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

89:1 وَٱلْفَجْرِ
89:1 By the Dawn, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:2 وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
89:2 by the Ten Nights, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:3 وَٱلشَّفْعِ وَٱلْوَتْرِ
89:3 by the even and the odd, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:4 وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ
89:4 and by the passing night, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:5 هَلْ فِى ذَٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِى حِجْرٍ
89:5 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:6 أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
89:6 Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:7 إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلْعِمَادِ
89:7 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:8 ٱلَّتِى لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
89:8 the like of which has never been created in the land, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:9 وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِينَ جَابُوا۟ ٱلصَّخْرَ بِٱلْوَادِ
89:9 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:10 وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ
89:10 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:11 ٱلَّذِينَ طَغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ
89:11 All of them committed excesses in their lands, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:12 فَأَكْثَرُوا۟ فِيهَا ٱلْفَسَادَ
89:12 and caused much corruption in them: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:13 فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
89:13 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:14 إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلْمِرْصَادِ
89:14 for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:15 فَأَمَّا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكْرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَكْرَمَنِ
89:15 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:16 وَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبْتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّىٓ أَهَـٰنَنِ
89:16 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:17 كَلَّا ۖ بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ ٱلْيَتِيمَ
89:17 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:18 وَلَا تَحَـٰٓضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ
89:18 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:19 وَتَأْكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا
89:19 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:20 وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
89:20 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:21 كَلَّآ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
89:21 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:22 وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
89:22 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:23 وَجِا۟ىٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِجَهَنَّمَ ۚ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
89:23 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:24 يَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِى
89:24 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:25 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
89:25 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:26 وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
89:26 and none can bind with bonds like His! - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:27 يَـٰٓأَيَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفْسُ ٱلْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
89:27 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:28 ٱرْجِعِىٓ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
89:28 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:29 فَٱدْخُلِى فِى عِبَـٰدِى
89:29 Join My servants. - Wahiduddin Khan (English)

89:30 وَٱدْخُلِى جَنَّتِى
89:30 Enter My Paradise." - Wahiduddin Khan (English)
